Waiting List/Reserving
Due to the high amount of inquires we receive for purchasing cavies, we almost always have a waiting list. If you are interested in purchasing a cavy from us and there is none available at that time, you may request to be placed on the general waiting list. Then once a pig becomes available you will be contacted via email (along with everyone else on the list). But do realize that once that email goes out it is first come first serve. If at that time you decide you then want to purchase the particular available pig, it must be paid for in full in order for it to be reserved (considered "sold") and made unavailable to other buyers.
If the animal will be picked up (in person), the reserving cost is the price of the pig(s). If you are shipping the animal, then you must pay the required $100 deposit (see shipping section below) to reserve the pig. Please note that these deposits are NON-REFUNDABLE in order to deter uncertian buyers.
We do not charge you a fee for holding/reserving your cavy (until you are able to pick it up or ship it out), but we will only hold a pig for a max of 30 days (unless under special circumstances). If I have to hold your pig(s) for an extended period of time I will charge a $25 extended care fee for every month past the original 30 day hold period.
If you reserve a pig that is to be shipped to you (in one way or another), I must receive the payment IN FULL before the pig(s) leave my caviary.
If you purchase a sow that is bred (confirmed or not) I charge a $25 breeding fee.
If you purchase a sow that has a litter I charge a $50 live birth fee.
(but keep in mind you can sell each baby for $40-50 each)
Important Note:
*Please realize that even though you are on the waiting list, you will only be able to choose from the pigs that KLC Guinea Pigs lists FOR SALE (does not want to keep for their own breeding/showing program). Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
*Deposit/Payment Plan Option*
Due to several recent requests, we now offer a deposit/payment plan option for our buyers. This means that if you plan on purchasing an animal from us in the future, that you will now be able to pay for the pig (partially or in full) even before it is born or able to leave the nursery. This option will allow serious buyers to have first priority once pigs become available and/or make large or expensive purchases more economically feasible. But please note that because the animals are not yet listed as for sale, NO possible guarantee can be made of when they will be available for puchase. All transactions are FINAL and NON-REFUNDABLE.
Re-homing
Unlike many breeders, I do offer a re-homing option. I do this to help ensure that my cavies will be in a home where they are wanted and cared for properly even after they leave my caviary. If you find yourself in this situation please contact me via email. Please note that upon return of the pig you will not be refunded for the purchase price of the animal.
***Shipping***
We glady offer domestic & international shipping for
all of our cavies (no cavy minimum).
WE REQUIRE THE BELOW INFORMATION TO BE READ BEFORE YOU AGREE TO SHIP AN ANIMAL.
How much does it cost?
The airlines' average price for shipping is between $175-$200 for one small-medium size carrier with a total weight of < 10 lbs (usually can hold 3 young pigs or 2 adults).
If you do not provide me with an AIRLINES APPROVED carrier, the purchase of the carrier is added to the total cost. The current carrier I purchase for cavy flights is $25-35.
Domestic shipments
$50 processing fee
**discount may be given for shipping 3+ animals**
(for getting the carrier/pig ready for transport, dealing
with the traffic, airlines/airport, etc.)
International shipments
No longer offering.
How do I go about starting the shipping process?
I require a NON-REFUNDABLE deposit of $100 for any animal that wishes to be shipped, in order to reserve the animal and get the shipping process started. Payment in full must be received a minimum of 2 days prior to flight departure. You also have the option of paying in one lump sum in order to avoid multiple paypal fees (if using that payment method). Check or money order is also accepted.
How/where do I pick up my animal after it is shipped?
Most airports have a specific terminal for live cargo. You must call your airport to ask the location of their cargo center (most are at or nearby the passanger airport/terminals).
Is it safe to ship cavies?
Yes!!! They are shipped via Continental Airlines Pet Cargo. Continental is know for being the "pet friendly airlines", and you may have even noticed their planes with animals on them. All pets are shipped in pressure & temp controlled compartments, that are similar to the passenger cabins. All cavies are also shipped with water, food, and hay for their trip.
What if the animal doesn't make it through the trip?
(so far has never occurred)
If for some reason the animal does not make it through the trip (although I ship many animals per year with no problem), I will refund you the cost of the animal ONLY (not the shipping fees) OR will provide you with a replacement animal free of charge (however you will still have to repay the shipping costs).
What airport/airline is used?
Airport: McCarran International Airport (LAS)
Preferred airlines (for domestic flights): Continental Airlines
If you wish for me to use a different airlines, you must provide me with ALL of the flight information/restrictions/guidelines (including a 24H telephone number for the airlines) for my review so I can determine the cost and if the shipment will be possible. Please note that if another airlines is used there will be a $15 inconvenience fee due to the increased shipping prep time.
Cavy Prices
Americans
$25-$35 each
Texels
$45-$55 each
*Note: Keep in mind that these are the average prices that I charge. However, depending on quality, breeding/showing history, etc. prices are subject to change (and could fall outside of these ranges one way or the other). Prices are usually not negotiable (because I have found that what I charge is quite reasonable). Prices are subject to change at the beginning of each year. I will quote you a price when you are interested in a particular pig, but will not post prices on the website.
